Please follow these instructions carefully.


  1. Open "File Explorer," this can also access this in the following ways
    • Select the folder icon on the taskbar 
    • Select the icon on the Start Menu
    • Press the Windows logo key and "E" button on your keyboard
  2. This should open the "Quick access" menu
  3. The "hosts" file should appear
  4. Click on "hosts"
  5. You will be prompted to open the file in Notepad
  6. Remove the "#" from in front of 149.4.99.43 www.qc.cuny.edu
  7. Copy the text of the document
  8. Close Notepad
  9. Click the Windows logo on the bottom left hand of your computer
  10. Type Notepad, but do not open Notepad
  11. Notepad will appear under "Best Match"
  12. Right click on Notepad and select "Run Program as Administrator"
  13. You will be asked the following: "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?"
  14. Click Yes
  15. Paste the text into open Notepad file
  16. Click File "Save As"
  17. Change "Save as type" to ALL FILES
  18. Select hosts

You will receive a message that reads as follows: "hosts already exists. Do you want to replace it?

  1. Click "Yes" 
  2. Close Notepad
  3. Open the browser using www.qc.cuny.edu 


You should now be in the new environment. You will have to perform these actions every time to disconnect from the SharePoint website.
