Step by Step Guide on Blackboard Collaborate Ultra for Students
If you do not have an active session open, please use our test room HERE to try out the fix below
1. After logging into Blackboard and accessing your course, click the Tools options

2. Click on the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra option

3. You can filter the list of sessions that appear by all upcoming sessions, all previous sessions, and sessions in a date range. Use the filter to help you find the session you are looking for.
If you know the name of the session you are looking for, select Search Sessions and type the session name.

4. Click on the menu Icon on the top left to open session menu.

5. Make sure to check if your Browser is blocking any cookies from Blackboard Collaborate Ultra if you are stuck on a screen with the spinning purple circle

6. When you first join a Collaborate session you will be prompted to set up your audio and video.

7. If you do not set up your audio and video when prompted, you can set up audio and video at any time in My Settings. To access your My Settings area, open the Collaborate Panel on the lower right side of the screen.

8. Click the My Settings button at the bottom of the page.

9. Click Select Set Up your Camera and Microphone to set up your audio and video.

10. Audio will play over your computer's speakers or your headphones. When prompted, choose the microphone you want to use. Select Yes - it's working to proceed.

11. Choose the camera you want to use. Collaborate tells you that you look great when it is receiving your video. Select Yes, it's working to proceed.

12. By default, your audio and video feeds are hidden and muted after you complete the setup. Select the microphone and camera icons to begin full meeting participation.

13. You can use the Chat tool to communicate with your professor and classmates by clicking the icon on the bottom right to open the collaborate panel, then click the Chat icon which looks like a call-out sign.

14. To leave a session, click the menu icon on the top left, then click “Leave session” at the bottom left.
15. You can access recordings by going to the Blackboard Collaborate Ultra page, click the Menu button on the top left of the black Sessions bar.

16. By default, the recording page lists the recordings from the sessions conducted last week. You can access previous recordings by clicking the drop down menu and choosing "Recordings in a Range" and select the date interval.
